Thornewood Castle Wedding – Gordon and Derek!

Gordon and Derek – these lovely humans are so fun, easy going and totally in love with each other. In 2017, Gordon was hanging out with his mama for a weekend and a Tinder message popped up…he was not only planning on not responding to the message, but planning to delete the app altogether.  In all her wisdom, mama said ‘well, if they messaged you, you might want to at least message back…’. A week later, Gordon and Derek met for dinner and this sweet love began… The sunken “secret garden” at Thornewood Castle in Tacoma provided a perfect setting for their emotional ceremony that was filled with tears, laughter and a few uncooperative candle wicks…

We started the day at a near by rental home where the couple decided to get ready together (I love this!) and then present themselves to their big ‘ol wedding party in a “first look”.

dinosaurs and cocktail socks for the win…

what a fun group of friends this was – the beautiful blond gal with the off the shoulder gown is the reason I met Gordon – he was an attendant in Marianna & Rob’s wedding at the Fairmont Hotel!

off to the castle for family photos and some chill time in the castle before the ceremony…

ever wonder what happens when you tell four friends to just act natural?? here ya go…

I don’t know what I love more, the look on Gordon’s face or that tear splash on his lapel.

something about passwords being shared during the ring exchange?

MARRIED!

even though they don’t play piano, how often do I get a piano AND a couple with D & G names? #musicnerd

After some great food (Lumpia! yum!), fun toasts and cake goodness, I got to walk outside with the couple for an impromptu first dance and toast together.

While we’re not back to full dance parties yet, the sparkler fun was had by all.  Thank you Gordon and Derek – you are aces in my book!
