Nina & Tom had a totally unique and completely fun wedding day! They are the first couple to be married on the South Lake Union Trolley (commonly know as the S.L.U.T.)! My awesome assistant Jen Wade and I started our day with everyone at the Pan Pacific Hotel - after spending some time with the ladies, I headed up to meet Tom and his sons Tommy & Pascal. These boys were here visiting from Canada and let me tell you that they totally stole the cuteness show. Back down in Nina's room, there was a lot of laughter (her mom is a hoot), but I was really touched when her mom got a little teary after Nina was ready to go...
So Nina was kicking some red pumas - loved it! Tom met her at the top of the spiral staircase and after smooching a bit, we headed down for their family portraits. The bulk of the group then headed down to Daniel's to meet the rest of the guests and board the Trolley. Nina and her folks stayed back so the trolley could come to her for their version of 'walking down the aisle'.
Nina's brother read an excerpt from Dr. Seuss 'Oh, the places you'll go' while the trolley made it's way back down to Daniel's and then the couple read their funny and touching vows to each other. We gathered the guests for a group shot on the trolley platform and then while the guests made their way to the cocktail hour, the new family headed back into the trolley for a private ride. The conductor was awesome - he let everyone get behind the driver's seat and even allowed time for a kid's potty break...
The room in Daniel's Broiler was lovely and the food was great. The huge Slurpee cake was such a hit (remember, the date was 7/11). They had four straws in the top of the Slurpee - one for Nina, Tom and each of the boys. I loved how when the boys got to take a turn sucking from the straw, Pascal said "I didn't get anything!"...
After the cake was cut, I found Nina out playing on the playground with the boys - she's going to be such an awesome stepmom. The whole group then piled on to a Ride the Ducks and went on a 90 minute adventure of stuffed fish kissing, bubbles and a lot of facts about Seattle that I had never heard. What a really fun wedding - what a great way to set the tone for their new life together!!
